Literally – “The Name”

“HaShem” is used as a circumlocution for referring to G-d without invoking His name directly. It is used out of honor and respect for His name. Yeshua Himself used circumlocution throughout His life. Never once is it recorded that He used G-d’s name directly. Even in the “Lord’s Prayer” he says “Our Father, Who is in heaven”, not using G-d’s name.
